Leonsden Kennel is a part of the diversity of Glencolton Farm.  We breed Leonberger dogs as pets, guardian and draft.  The gentle giant is true for so many reasons.  Great with kids and a perfect family dog, the leonberger might be the right dog for you.  Our dogs are CKC registered purebred, microchipped and vet checked

About the breed

 The Leonberger is a large, friendly, muscular, yet elegant working dog. He is well-proportioned with a balanced build, and is distinguished by his black mask, self-confident tranquility combined with a lively temperament. Adult males, in particular, are powerful and strong and carry a lion-like mane on the neck and chest. A dog or bitch is easily discernable, with the dog being masculine, and the bitch feminine, without loss of type. For its size, the Leonberger is light on its feet and graceful in motion.

Why Leonbergers

We started breeding Leonbergers in Germany in the 70s.  Once we came to Canada we stopped until we imported Rosi from Germany in 2017 and are now preparing for our C litter.  Amber is Rosi’s daughter and we plan to breed for a litter in spring 2024.  All of our breeding dogs are health checked and registered with the OFA.  All dogs are checked for hips, elbow, eyes, heart, LPN 1,2 and 3 and LEMP.  We are members in good standing of the CKC and the Leonberger club of Canada.
